More than Burgers at New Restaurant Vekslers.

We've blogged about the new "burger shop" coming to 521 Hicks, which we found out about through Grub Street.  This place is way more than just burgers.  In fact, they only have one burger, "the quarter pounder with cheese", on their small but diverse menu.  We've made the photo below extra large so you can see the delicious menu descriptions.  Because it says opening menu for the week we're sure it will be subject to change.  Definitely excited to try this place.  It's affordable too!

521 Hicks Burger Joint Updates!

Coming soon??!  As you can see from this pic above there was a Pat LaFrieda parked out front recently.  This was taken a couple of days ago.  This gives us a couple clues as to what to expect from this soon to be burger joint at 521 Hicks Street.  One is that they are using quality products!  Two is that if they are getting food delivered already, we say "if" because we didn't actually see any transactions and in fact the man driving knocked on the door and no one answered, this may mean that they are opening very soon!  We'll keep an eye on things.

Karloff Under Renovation

We blogged about Karloff, an Eastern European eatery on Court Street, when it first opened only a year and a half ago.  We noticed recently that they had brown paper in their windows and thought they had closed.  We then saw the sign (below) stating that they are getting a facelift, kitchen upgrades and changing their menu as well.  It seems so soon to be making all of these changes.  We really liked this place, they had a very unique menu and great ice cream, and hope the changes they make will bring in the customers while keeping the good aspects of the old Karloff in tact. No word on when they will reopen but we'll keep you posted.

4 years after breaking ground

4 Years after breaking ground 115 Kane Street still has not opened its doors to new residents.
Corcoran listed these units as rentals for a hot minute over a year ago and almost immediately pulled the listings after a CofO issue.
It looks like this issue still hasn't been resolved because the building still sits vacant. I know that the DOS is backed up but what is going on?!

Looks like they still don't have their ducks in row!
Also to put a rumor to rest this is not one of Gino Vitale's buildings!
Anyone else know what happened?
I have rented most of the unit at the building behind it on Hicks street and they got top of the line windows so the apartments aren't that loud. I can't say the same for the non-usable outdoor space.
