Pirate Ball Save the Date!

We last blogged about something called Pirate School, which was a one man show at Waterfront Museum.  Here's more news on pirates!  We've received a Save the Date, which we've shared above, for the Pirate Ball! This is a benefit for the Waterfront Museum as well as a centennial celebration for the  Lehigh Valley Railroad Barge Number 79.  There will be music, cocktails, food, a silent auction, and more.  The date is September 19th and you can find out more info and purchase tickets here.

Benefit Tonight for BGI.


You can still get last minute tickets for the News Views 2013 Benefit tonight supporting the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway.  You can go here to purchase or buy one at the door at the supporter level for $175.  The event will be held at Liberty Warehouse at 260 Conover St, which is a great location with amazing views.  Here's what BGI has to say about what you can expect for the evening.

Open bar, live music, dessert and after-party at Hometown Bar-B-Que are included. Enjoy the hot-and-sweet music of The Michael Arenella Quintet! Festive summer attire suggested.

This year’s event will feature tastings of seafood and land-food from some of South Brooklyn’s distinctive eateries, including: Brooklyn Crab, Court Street Grocers, Fairway Market, Fletcher’s Brooklyn Barbeque, Hometown Bar-B-Que, Littleneck, Luke’s Lobster, Mile End, M.O.B., Petite Crevette, Robicelli’s, Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies, Watty & Meg, and more!

Gowanus Canal Winter Fest Benefit.





Saturday night, January 12th, is the 2013 Winter Festival, although the flyers around town mistakenly say 2012.  It's a benefit for the Gowanus Canal Conservancy with proceeds on ticket prices (ranging from $10 for kids to $45 for membership plus admission) going towards "specifically assisting with its Clean & Green Volunteer Program, Composting and Rain Garden projects".  The night will consist of dinner, drinks, and music.  Read more about the event, including how to get tickets, below.  Or for more info check out this site.


Join us for a very Brooklyn evening of friends, food, music and libations with performances by Mike Doughty, Avan Lava, and Superhuman Happiness.

Dinner will feature:
- Artisanal hot dogs from Brooklyn Cured
- Porky Melts from Pork Slope/TALDE
- Toppings by Mama O's Kimchi, Crock & Jar and Brooklyn Brine
- Cole slaw by Lot2
Sixpoint Brewery is the official beer sponsor, and there will be a selection of the local craft brew available.  Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by GuS and Plan Tea.
Dinner will be accompanied by a DJ set by DJ Abby Klein and silent auction, featuring items such as Brooklyn Butcher Blocks, art work, gift certificates, and more to be announced!

Restore Red Hook Tattoo and Art Show Reminder!





Just a quick reminder that this benefit for small businesses in Red Hook (all proceeds going to restoreredhook.org) will be this Sunday, December 16th at Kidd Studios 133 Imlay St. 11231 Brooklyn, NY from 2pm-8pm.  Be there!  More info, including a flash sheet of tattoos, from the event's facebook page is below.

Benefit at Muriel Guépin.





Wine, art, and a worthy cause.  Heights Chateau and Muriel Guépin are hosting this benefit, which is being given for teacher and artist Jaclyn Talley and her husband Jason, also an artist, who is fighting a rare form of Leukemia called AML.  The art auction VIP Preview is this Thursday, October 25th, between 6pm and 9pm at 47 Bergen.  Along with wine there will be cheese and charcuterie.  More info below.

"Found in Red Hook" Silent Auction: Get Your Bids in Now


The Kentler International Drawing Space on Van Brunt St. in Red Hook is gearing up for a big benefit on May 19th.  They are now holding two silent auctions that will end on the day of their benefit event.  According to their website one of the auctions features artworks by various artists and the other, called "Found in Brooklyn", will offer gift certificates and unique items from some of our favorite neighborhood artisans.  Baked, A Better Dog, Home/Made, Pier-Glass, and Ft. Defiance are just a few of the many local spots offering goodies for the lucky winning bidders.
