Etsy Pop-Up in Dumbo Saturday.

This weekend, Saturday July 27th, there will be an Etsy pop-up shop at West Elm Dumbo (75 Front Street).  Around a dozen Etsy vendors (all from Brooklyn!) will set up shop between 1pm and 6pm.  Here's more info from their facebook page.

Tina Roth Eisenberg, designer and founder of the popular blog swissmiss, Tattly, TeuxDeux and Creative Mornings has curated a selection of art, crafts, snacks and other handmade goods from local NYC Etsy designers. See all the participating Etsy vendors here: http://bit.ly/swissmissEtsy

Carroll Park Fair!

This Saturday, or Sunday if the weather doesn't cooperate, you can head down to Carroll Park for the annual summer fair.  From 10-5 will fill up the ballpark and sell their goods.  Unfortunately their will be no food or drinks sold, only items like jewelry, clothes, crafts, etc.  There are plenty of places around the park to get food though (tip: Smith Canteen across the street is delicious!)  If you have any questions you can call 917-574-0745.  Maybe they could still fit a vendor in if you're interested, who knows?  Hopefully it's a beautiful day and all the local vendors do well.  Go out and support them!

Red Hook Fall Flea

This weekend, Sunday the 25th from 10am-5pm to be precise, come down to the Red Hook Fall Flea at the PS 15 playground at Van Brunt Street between Sullivan and Wolcott. It should be a lot of fun and plenty to do for both adults and kids. A musical performance by Audra Rox begins at 2pm and a few kids activities throughout the day include a drawing workshop, futball class, movement class, and Zumba! You can also help out the local school, PS 15 whose PTA is sponsoring this event, by bringing classroom donations of pencils, flare pens, markers, crayons, glue sticks, tape, copy paper, liquid soap, or hand sanitizer. Check out the vintage clothing and furniture, hand crafts, local food, books and more! So, we'll see you there!

Flea Market in Carroll Park.

"It's My Park Day" in Carroll Park on May 21st was a big hit. People really came out to support their local park and the courtyard area was teaming with Carroll Gardeners. Hopefully the next event will be just as successful. On June 4th (rain date is June 5th), this Saturday, the annual flea market will begin at 10AM. Come out and check out the merchandise!

There is still room for vendors too, so if you have something to sell or promote just contact Gary Dolan at carrollparkflea@gmail.com or 917-574-0745. It's $30 for a 10X10 spot or $40 for a spot against the fence.

Market coming to Downtown Brooklyn!

First came reports about Shake Shack coming to the Fulton Mall, (read about that here: http://realtycollective.blogspot.com/2010/11/shack-is-coming.html) and now there's news about the Dekalb Market coming this summer. Yup, Downtown Brooklyn's getting hipper.

Located at the intersection of Flatbush and Willoughby, this market will be comprised of a collection of salvaged shipping containers and will be open 7 days a week. The vendors for the market are accross the board and so far include "an incubator farm, food market, events and performance venue, and a collection of eateries and work-sell spaces." But the one thing they all have in common is that they are independent, with a focus on community and sustainability.
