Pok Pok comes to Columbia Street

Leases have been signed and we could not be more excited that Pok Pok is coming to the Columbia Waterfront and taking over the old 5Burro space.  It is a great addition to the already thriving area! We can not wait to eat some wings in their backyard!

Big News for Downtown.

We recently read in the Carroll Gardens Patch that Downtown Brooklyn will be seeing a major change in the future, along with all the other changes that have been happening in the growing area. Mayor Bloomberg recently announced that the first floor of the Municipal Building, at the corner of Joralemon and Court Streets, is set to be sold to developers for 10 million dollars and made into a restaurant and shops. Developer, Albert Laboz says the restaurant will be cool and hip with a mid-level price range and that construction will begin next year.This is exciting news for residents since there will be new businesses opening up and good news for the economy of New York City. According to Mayor Bloomberg "the project will create 64 construction jobs and 114 permanent jobs for people all across the five boroughs". Bring it on!

Bar Bruno

There are new window decals on the door of 520 Henry St. (see pics above) and also on the windows (below). This new restaurant/bar, called Bar Bruno, has been in the works for a while now. Apparently the space needed a lot of work. They replaced the step up to the door with a ramp, so they'll be wheelchair and stroller friendly. As you can see from the windows this place sounds like it will be a little bit of everything. A lunch spot with sandwiches, a place to get your morning coffee, as well as a restaurant and bar by night. There have been comments made on other neighborhood blogs concerned with the vagueness of the concept. We think that offering lots of different options is a good thing though and as do most restaurants they will probably and find their niche and stand out for whatever they do best. We wish them well and can't wait to see what evolves.
