Take Root is Fully Open.

The storefront, Take Root, on Sackett Street has been halfway open for a while.  They were supposed to open the dining half, we thought, months ago but only the yoga studio was up and running.  Well, earlier last week they had the balloons out and the "noshery" was open.  For those who haven't heard of this new place here's the concept.  It's a shared space, part yoga studio, part snack shop, part tasting dinner parlor I guess you'd call it.  The snack menu is below and the tasting menu for the 10 person max seated dinners are probably ever changing.  the price for now is $85 per person.  We're very interested to see how this place does.  We hope well, of course.  It is an interesting idea and if it goes well we may see more businesses sharing space in the future.  Is your New Years Resolution going to be "Try new things?"

Take Root Open Today.

We blogged about Take Root, a new space at 187 Sackett Street, a while back and we're back with some updates.  One big update is that it opens today!  In case you didn't read that last blog, the space is a little complicated.  A cafe/yoga studio/5 course tasting 10 seat restaurant all sharing one space.  The cafe is open today and Thursday between 11am and 4pm.  A very short menu of only 6 items.  A couple of things as an example are the cannelinni beans with marinated mushrooms and garlic chips and the smoked acorn squash and yogurt soup.  Yum!  A yoga class is also on the schedule for today.  Community Class Slow Flow from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  It's definitely an interesting idea and we can't wait to try it out!

New Tenant at Kakes Spot

187 Sackett, which used to be the specialty cake bakery called Kakes, has a new tenant.  It's definitely an odd concept but if it works it'll be very exciting.  The space is to be shared by two women, Anna and Elise, together they're calling the place Take Root.  It will be part yoga studio and part kitchen.  Half of the time it will hold children's, adult and prenatal yoga and the other half will have food!  Strange but cool.  Elise Kornack worked at The Spotted Pig and Aquavit before attaining this spot and is planning on having a weekly intimate (10 diners) tasting menu and from Tuesdays-Thursdays from 11am-4pm serving a menu of snacks and drinks.  The space is very small so both the food service and yoga classes have limited spots.  It isn't open yet but we are very curious to see how this place does.  They have no website that we know of yet but they have flyers up on the door which explain more, including prices and schedule info, so if you're in the neighborhood and interested, go check them out.
