Group Ride Vehicle Stop?

The B71 bus has been gone for a long time. Residents of the area are still upset, rightfully so. Then came the group ride vehocle program idea. A private service picking up customers from along the route for around the same price as the bus. Brooklyn Van Lines was that company and charged $2 a ride. Here's where things get confusing. Although there are still signs along Union Ave, like the one we took a pic of above, it's hard to find any information about wether they are still running and if so what is the schedule like. We read on Brooklynink as recently as November that although they had cancelled the line due to "'sporadic service they had been providing along the B71 route,' according to TLC spokesman Allan Fromberg." the line is still running along the 71 route. If anyone has any more info than this please share! We know that a lot of people would be grateful.

  1. Brooklyn Van Lines lost that license May 31, 2011 since MTA research concluded there was little need for the Group Ride service. No public notice was issued on the cancellation. Osmond still ran the route legally?/illegally? sporadically until a complaint was filed last month against Brooklyn Van Lines with the TLC on quality of service. Suleiman (the company owner) stated at that time he has not provided any B71 service since the May 31st letter. If the Brooklynink and Patch articles are true, Osmond still runs the route on weekday mornings. But with all the conflicting information, as a B71 supporter I can only go by what I've seen - a non-existant van service on my daily ride to work.
