Closed on Court

We saw a couple of shops closed last Friday as we strolled down Court. 236 Court, which was a Deli and Grocery is now closed. Squashed between new restaurant Brucie and Sam's, a neighborhood staple, the grocery had been in that location for a while. Just beyond Sam's is another new restaurant Mooburger. Oh, how the neighborhood continues to change everyday.

The second shop we saw closed was Sweet Melissa's. No gasping yet. We were surprised when we saw the brown paper too (below) but you'll be happy to know that they were merely renovating last Friday and are now back open for business. It couldn't have been a lot of work that needed to be done since it was just Friday, so don't expect any major changes next time you visit.

Steve Wong, DDS PC

Many moons ago, almost a year to be exact, we wrote a blog about a dentist moving to 158 Court street (pictured above). Well, a spring, summer and fall season later it has finally arrived. We walked by recently and noticed the place was set up for business and informative pamphlets were placed outside to introduce Steve Wong, DDS PC. Apparently, although he is new to Court Street, he is not new to the neighborhood as he's practiced at 316 Henry Street for 8 years previous. All in all he's been a practicing dentist for 14 year, 10 of which were spent as an instructor at NYU College of Dentistry. In the pamphlet Wong promises thoroughness with complete oral examinations (including cancer screenings) and short wait times, saying "you'll rarely have to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes". That sounds like good criteria to us. If you need a dentist, check him out 718-625-2828.
