Bye Bye Trees 8(.

As we walk around the neighborhood and see all the trees on the side of the street ready to be taken to the big tree heaven, we are reminded that the holidays are over.  See ya Christmas, so long Hanukkah, bye bye New Years.  There is one annual event coming up, though, that you should put on your calendar.  Mulchfest! That's the weekend where NYC parks take your christmas trees for recycling them into mulch.  The dates for 2013 are January 12th and 13th so hold onto those trees until then if you can.  Check out the website for locations and more info.

Pop-up tree vendors

Still need to get a Christmas tree? It seems in Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill you can find them sold on every block. At the church on Clinton and Kane they're selling trees of all sizes as well as wreaths. They're also being sold outside of Trader Joes and at Mazzone hardware store just to name a few places. There aren't as many in Red Hook but we did happen upon a pop up Christmas tree shop on Wolcott and Richards (shown above). So, if you don't have a tree and are planning on getting one you still have plenty of options on where to find one.
