Book Court For Kids Saturday!

Every once in a while we like to blog about events happening at Book Court.  We love having an indie book shop in the neighborhood and so we like to remind people to head out there and check it out sometimes.  Usually these readings we share are for adults but we noticed that they've been holding children's events too.  The flyer pictured above has mainly past events but one left for this Saturday, October 6th.  Amy Bloom, author of a children's picture book called Little Sweet Potato will be at the store at 4pm.  Head down with the kids for story time with the author!

BookCourt Events

Book Court hosts some pretty cool events. You wouldn't think it because it's such a small indie store but they get some pretty big names to come in for signings and readings. Tomorrow January 5th, they'll have Annie Leibovitz come in for her new book, Pilgrimage, which is not your usual Leibovitz photo book. Within the pages you won't find one human being but exquisite pictures of scenes and objects. The signing at the book shop, located at 163 Court Street between Dean and Pacific, will begin at 7pm. We'd get there early in case of lines.

Children's Book Reading/Signing

Melanie Hope Greenberg, award winning children's picture book author and illustrator, will be at Book Court this Sunday reading her book Mermaids on Parade. This, of course, is in preparation and anticipation of the yearly Coney Island Mermaid Parade, which will take place Saturday June, 18th at 2pm this year. The book reading will take place at 11AM and Melanie will also be signing books.

For more information on Melanie Hope Greenberg and her work, visit her website. Book Court is at 163 Court street (btwn Dean and Pacific). The reading/signing will take place from 11AM-12pm this Sunday, May 15th.
