Neighborhood Staple Renovating or Closed?

One of the oldest restaurants in the neighborhood, St. Clair on Smith Street, seems to have closed.  Although signs in the window (below) indicate that they are merely renovated the fact that the inside is completely gutted and the outside signs have been taken down tells us that the diner is no longer.  Web buzz, such as the blog lostnewyorkcity, is also reporting that the restaurant is gone for good.  Residents are definitely sad to see this place go.
