Valentine's Day Fun!

What to do tonight? If you're a last minute planner, like a lot of others, there are plenty of place to go in the neighborhood to pick up something special. The Chocolate Room is an obvious choice. They have a new menu for v-day, chocolate covered strawberries, and special chocolates. For the singles who want to dwell in the depression this holiday brings to some (or actually just fake depression while you drink, dance, meet hotties and have way more fun than your attached friends), there's a great event at the Bell House called Unlovable with a Smiths and Morrissey cover band, of course! And if you're having a hard time getting a reservation and don't want to brave the Valentine's day mob...skip it. Go out tomorrow. Jake Walk will be having a special Valentines Day menu tonight and tomorrow too! It's $35 for 4 courses and an extra $40 with wine pairings. Menu below.

Potter Fans Party!

Saw this little tidbit on GeekChicNYC this week. On December 17th our favorite spot in Gowanus, The Bell House, will be hosting a Harry Potter Yule Ball. That's right. Harry Potter fans can celebrate the holidays in wizardly style. Nice attire is recommended...wizard robes are optional. It's a whopping 18 bucks to get in but along with all the music you'll be enjoying for those bucks, including Harry and the Potters (photo above) as well as Draco and the Malfoys, there will also be drink specials. Plus, it's the holidays. Tis the season to... spend money on fun themed parties! It starts at 5pm so don't get there too late. Click here to buy tickets in advance.

Cosmos, Well Not Exactly But...

For those seeking intelligence in more immediate locals, Imagine Science Film Festival and the Secret Science Club brings you the search for intelligent life through short films. Tonight at 7:30 the Bell House presents for your viewing pleasure: Naming Pluto, MEPE and the Exquisite Corpse of Science - among other fine shorts. Sure, it's no Cosmos but I'm sure you can submit your requests for next year.
