Fornino Pics.

Last time we blogged about Fornino in Brooklyn Bridge Park they weren't quite open yet.  They have a window that serves ice cream, ice and popsicles that's been open for a while.  They now have a lunch menu and have been pretty crowded for the last part of the summer.  Here are some pics above and below.  It's great space, as you can see, with indoor and outdoor seating.  This is location number three in Brooklyn, the first two being in Williamsburg and Greenpoint.  If you haven't tried this place you really should while it's still relatively warm out!

Google at Farmacy.

Google had a private party last night at Brooklyn Farmacy.  People were enjoying ice cream floats and taking pics.  As many may know, last year Google bought out Zagat and launched Google Plus Local in May.  Google Plus Local not only shows Zagat scores, it also utilizes social media and allows you to read and write reviews that your friends can see.  They've been putting on these events and encouraging guests to blog, tweet, and review different restaurants and bars.  I think we've blogged about Farmacy before.  They were awesome then and they are still awesome.  The atmosphere, the people and the sweets are wonderful!

The Good Kind of Ice!

We're all looking forward to the spring. The flowers will bloom, our coats can go back in the closets, and a new and improved Uncle Louie G will open on Smith Street! What's the new part? New owners, new location (it's moved from 101 Smith to 233 Smith between Butler and Douglass, which was the former Area Kids Store). What's improved? In addition to the same gourmet Italian ices and ice creams we all know and love, they'll be selling soft serve ice cream.

So, check back in the spring to see when they're opening. They'll be having a grand opening ice cream party and no one wants to miss an ice cream party. If you like them on facebook you'll be sure not to miss it. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Uncle-Louie-G/31366539732

Ice Cream Season is Officially Over

Blue Marble closed their shop doors at 196 Court Street for the season on Monday. They won't be reopening until March 1st. This growing company now has two locations in Brooklyn, after loosing what would be it's third back in October in Boerum Hill at 420 Atlantic. One is in Cobble Hill and the other is in Prospect Heights.

They're still packaging the ice cream during the winter though, which is also an aspect of expansion within the company. So if you need your fix you can buy a pint or scoop at Brucie, Seersucker, Watty and Meg, Stinky Bklyn, or Union Market.

Jaques Torres- Master of Chocolate- by Katrina Kitsis

Jacques Torres, master of chocolate, God to sugar addicts, and former pastry chef at Le Cirque has given us a new reason to cheat on our diets this summer. His long awaited Ice Cream Shop just opened yesterday next door to his DUMBO location at 66 Water St. There are twelve flavors including chocolate-banana, a caramel-rum vanilla swirl, strawberry, hazelnut with chocolate chunks, wicked hot chocolate (spiced with ancho and chipotle chiles), and four different sorbets. The shop features yummy homemade waffle cones, ice cream cookie sandwiches, or you can opt to get your scoop served on a belgian waffle with the works! Options abound! So grab a cone and walk it off at The Empire Fulton Ferry State Park across the street. I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday!- Katrina Kitsi
