Brooklyn Flea Expands.

It's been happening since June 21st but if you haven't checked this out already you should.  Why? because it's delicious and cool.  Both figuratively and literally.  Holding this "Flea Food Under the Archway" ensures both shade and a breeze from the waterfront along with the long list of awesome food vendors.  More info about the vendors and times are below.

All summer long you'll enjoy noshing on Asia Dog (Mel and Steve!), Brooklyn Oyster Party (po' boys and raw bar!), Landhaus (pork meatballs, brats!), and Mile End (smoked meat!)

Find Flea Food Under the Archway on Thursdays 11:30am-8pm, and Fridays 11:30am-4pm, through August. The Archway runs under the Manhattan Bridge between Anchorage Place and Adams Street.

Mile End in Red Hook

Mile End Owner Noah Bernamoff told grubstreet back in September that their production space would be moving to Red Hook and added that "in addition to using the space for production, we will have a small retail store on the pier selling Mile End meats by the pound, loaves of bread, and a selection of pickled vegetables and mustards. We hope the residents and visitors to Red Hook can have an alternative to Fairway for certain basic, yet high-quality pantry items, all of which will be produced within the space."  We were excited then and even more psyched now that the retail store should be opening soon.  Last we heard it should be opening by the end of May or beginning of June.  The kitchen is already set up and producing at Pier 41 now bring on the retail!

Mile End Expanding

The much loved neighborhood Montreal Jewish delicatessen, Mile End, has been extremely successful and gotten lots of press. Now it's time to expand. They'll be opening a shop across the river in the Fall according to a report on grubstreet.com. The new location has yet to be disclosed but will be in the NoHo area and will be called Mile End Sandwich. This plan has been in the works since at least the beginning of the year. The critics love them, we love them, and now Manhattan will love them too. We wish them as much success over there as they've had here!

Read this interview with owner, Noah Bernamoff, about his influences and experience opening Mile End. It's quite interesting.
